does Trend need to know which country I'm from?

World Virus Tracking Center
The
version of HouseCall you are about to use has been specially
designed to work with the Trend World Virus Tracking Center.
This is a new information tool used for tracking computer
viruses worldwide in real-time
-- it uses data provided by HouseCall
users such as yourself. Click on the link to see
lists of the top viruses for
each continent and selected countries as
of the moment.
What
information is collected?
The following information are sent back to the Virus
Tracking Center server from your computer:
- country of origin
- number of files scanned.
If any viruses are found
during the scan, the following additional information are
sent:
- name of the
virus
- number of infected files found
- number
of files cleaned
What
information is NOT collected?
No personal files from your computer are ever sent back
to our server. All virus tracking information is anonymous.
We do not log IP addresses or collect any personal information
about individual users in the Virus Tracking Center database.
The email address you submitted for receiving security alerts
is stored in a separate database.
How
is this data used?
Trend Micro uses this data to analyze worldwide virus trends,
as they occur, and to predict virus outbreaks and prevent
them pro-actively.
